My Wife will be my companion for long drives: Virat Kohli
After a successful series against South Africa culminating in a 3-0 rout of South Africa in the Test series, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli was visibly relaxed at the launch of the new Audi A6 in Famous Studios, Mumbai on Thursday, October 24, 2019. He hinted that he may upgrade to a new Audi in January 2020 but which car is a secret.
When asked about where he would like to go for long drives, Virat said, “Times have been hectic and when we get the time we go away for a holiday mostly. When I spend more time in the city at home, the highway is a good place to just get on for a long drive and see how long you want to go. You don’t really think where you want to go when you go for a long drive, just get into the car, find a long stretch which is never-ending and just keep going. Usually, it will be at night when there is less traffic just put on some music and just be out there. Great weather would be handy as well. In the future when I am more in the city and at home, we will be going for more drives than we are at the moment,” he said.
When asked who will be his companion, Virat said, “my wife”.
He said that Audi R8 was his favorite sportscar and spoke about how he had taken Chris Gayle out for a drive and how Chris was very excited to be in the car. He also said that he had taken his Audi R8 onto the racetrack and that it was a wonderful experience with no traffic.
Virat also commented that he was waiting for electric cars and that whatever helps the environment is good. He said whenever the shift happens everyone will see him in an Electric car. When asked whether he would consider being a brand ambassador on behalf of the Government to promote electric cars, Virat said, “if they approach”.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India commented that Virat is an absolute icon of cricket in India and that he inspires a lot of youth. He also said that he personally was a die-hard fan of Virat.
He also mentioned his association with Audi as a perfect fit, as Audi has been associated to be a very sporty brand over the years along with the luxury they bring as well. It has always been associated with cricket and sports for many years. He also added that cars bring amazing comfort and performance as well in a sports car which really fulfilled all his needs of owning cars.
