Anosh Irani is a critically acclaimed author of many books and literary pieces, many of which have been set in and around Mumbai. His books have won many prestigious literary prizes and have been nominated for a number of awards. Set in Kamathipura, the notorious red-light district of Bombay, his latest work ‘The Parcel’ revolves around Madhu, who was born a boy, but identifies herself as a eunuch. She has spent most of her life in a close-knit clan of transgender sex workers. The book is rife with trials and tribulations that a member of the “hijra†community faces. The plot is engaging and strikes a deep emotional chord and poses tough questions to society as a whole. This is a dark, devastating but ultimately redemptive novel that promises to be one of the most talked-about publications of the year.
Present among others were Boman Irani, Shiamak Davar, Kunal Vijayakar, Kiran Amlani, Shobita Kadan, and more.
The food highlights for the night included sumptuous comfort cafe fare like the Double Grilled Naga Chilli Cheese Toast, Paneer Chilli, Jalapeno Cheese Nads, Kerela Coin Parathas, Minced Chicken Baida Roti, Chilli Chicken to name a few.
Guests were seen celebrating the successful launch of this masterpiece and having a good time.
