Underlining its commitment to disrupt the long-haul logistics industry within the country, Lobb, a technology-based platform to facilitate cargo bookings, has announced the launch of its services in Chennai as a part of its long-term expansion strategy. Truckers operating out of identified truck terminals in Chennai such as Madhavarum, Ambattur, Broadway and Avadi have come forward in large numbers to benefit from this initiative.
The move to expand into Chennai, which is widely considered to be the Detroit of India, is already generating impressive results for Lobb. The company is currently receiving 15-20 daily requests for cargo transportation to Chennai and has several trucks registered on its platform operating between the city and its other operational hubs. Lobb is also receiving multiple load requests for its returning trucks and is expecting to register multi-fold growth in the city.
Speaking on the announcement, Venu Kondur, CEO, Lobb, said, “Chennai is strategically and economically one of the most important destinations for the Indian logistics industry. Not only does it house two major ports in Chennai and Ennore, but is also a prominent industrial hub for several industries such as automotive, petrochemicals, textile and apparel. As a result, it is today the third largest market for on-road logistics business after Mumbai and Delhi/NCR. The decision to expand to Chennai was made keeping in mind the massive opportunity of disruption that exists in the city. We are confident that, by leveraging state-of-the-art features such as real-time cargo tracking, we will be able to fulfill Chennai’s transportation requirements in a seamless and efficient manner.â€
Lobb’s most recent expansion into Chennai has been welcomed by the city’s truckers, transporters and end-consumers, who will now benefit from the marketplace’s tech-based central sourcing approach to fulfil their cargo transportation requirements. Owing to the benefits its tech-centric approach brings, Lobb has been able to secure an exclusive mandate for goods movement through its platform for several prominent industry players in the city. Having previously registered impressive growth in other major transportation hubs such as Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mumbai and Kolkata, the company is also targeting future expansion into 20+ locations across the country.
