CapitaLand’s wholly owned lodging business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), has recently appointed Ms Supriya Malhotra asArea General Manager for Chennai Cluster. In her new role, Ms Malhotra will be responsible for Ascott’s overall operations in Chennai. She will also be leading the Pre-Opening Process of our new properties due to open in India.
Ms Malhotra said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the Ascott team in Chennai. Our properties have been operational and offering a ‘home away from home’ to travellers who chose to stay with us through this lockdown. Our priority right now, is to first take care of our guests and staff.”
Ms Malhotra has been with Ascott since 2013 and was previously the City Manager for Chennai with direct operational responsibilities of Somerset Greenways Chennai. Ms Malhotra has a vast experience of over three decades in hospitality operations and has held leadership positions with global brands like Radisson, Oakwood, Renaissance and Marriott Executive Apartments. Ms Malhotra is also the recipient of prestigious awards, such as the ‘Woman Leadership Award for Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism’ at the ET Now Seventh World Women Leadership Congress and Awards in 2020, and the ‘Most Admired GM of the Year’ at the Golden Star Awards in 2013. She holds a Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM, New Delhi and has trained at the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development.
Ascott has also announced the appointment of Mr Mansur Ahmed as Deputy General Manager of the 187-unit Somerset Greenways in Chennai.
Mr Ahmed has been with Ascott for over 9 years and was previously the Director of Sales and Marketing for Chennai cluster. A seasoned sales & marketing professional, Mr Ahmed was selected by the Ascott management to undergo a rigorous six-month training spread across India and Singapore, prior to his appointment as Deputy General Manager. In his new role, Mr Ahmed will be responsible for managing the operations of Somerset Greenways Chennai. Mr Ahmed has worked with several prestigious Indian and international hospitality brands, including ITC Group and Marriott International. He holds a Diploma in Hospitality Management from the Canan School Of Hotel Management, Chennai, and an MBA from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

In India, Ascott owns and operates the 187-unit Somerset Greenways Chennai and 269-unit Citadines OMR Chennai. The international brand will extend its portfolio in India with Ascott Ireo City Gurugram and Citadines Paras Square Gurugram that are slated to open later this year while Citadines Calangute Goa and Citadines Candolim Goa are set to open in 2021 and 2022 respectively. In total, Ascott has a portfolio of seven properties across four cities with more than 1,200 units, making it the leading international serviced residence owner-operator in the country.
