Celebrate the culture of North East at DLF Place - SaketCity’s favourite lifestyle destination, DLF Place, Saket hosted a two day long mega cultural festival ‘Celebrating North East’ on 17th and 18th December, 2016, whereDesigners, Performing artists, Artisans, Craftsmen, Weavers from the versatile North East region showcased their talents. The festival was inaugurated by Vijay Goel , Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.  The event was supported by Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of AYUSH and ARTFED (Assam Apex Weavers and Artisans Cooperative Federation Ltd).

To promote North East India’s Textiles, Handicrafts and Tourism, Assam’s leading institute- North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT) along with CARE LUIT organized Fashion shows, Cultural program and Musical shows. In addition to this, exhibition focusing on Handloom, Handicrafts, Jute and MSME sector of the North East Region was also held at the mall.

Celebrate the culture of North East at DLF Place - SaketCommenting on the event, Mrs Benu Sehgal, Senior Vice President, DLF Place, Saket said “North East represents one of the most fascinating regions of our country with highly talented people who are masters in their field. Through this festival we aim at promoting talents from this region. More than 30 exhibition stalls will be set at the venue for the visitors along with entertaining fashion shows, musical and dance performance for our patrons.”

The mega festival provided a platform to the extremely talented Designers, Performing Artists, Artisans, Craftsmen and Weavers hailing from the North East region of the country to showcase their skills.

During the two-day festival, twelve fashion shows were organized highlighting Handloom and Handicrafts Ensemble by talented designers like Arita Kayshab, Pallavi Deka, Pranami Kalita, Barsha Phukan, Ayn Longkumer, Yura Mary, Robert Naorem, Jyoti Kashmiri, Nandini Protim, Jahnabi Swargiyari, Rinzing Choden and Achunbo Chawang, from the North East Region. Twenty Eight International and Indian mega models with popular faces from the North East’s modeling world, wore the designer ensembles while walking the ramp. 

Providing music for the soul, enthralling music performances by musicians and bands like Retrosonic, Trouble Clef, Kelly Jorden, Edwin, Sparsh, Sushil, MC Saini, Lena, MAB, etc. entertained the audience. That’s not all! Popular Assamese Film Actor Tanvi Sarma will entertain the audience with her Bihu performance on the inaugural day, which received a loud applause.

The event was a huge success with large number of people in presence.
