TISS SVE and Megabite Food Services join hands to empower Blue-Collar Workers

FIRST time in INDIA TISS SVE &Megabite Food Services will bridge the gap between the literacy and the employment rate of the country with Earn-While-You-Learn program

Tata Institute of Social Sciences School of Vocational Education (TISS SVE) in its pioneering effort with the objective of helping to create skilled workforce announces their association with Megabite Food Services. This association focuses towards introducing skill based courses in Hospitality where the need for specialization is increasing. The Vocational courses by Tata Institute of Social Sciences have been designed to provide immediate and definite interventions to impart employable skills to youth across the country.

Megabite Food Services was incorporated in 2005 by three ex hoteliers and is in the business of providing catering in the premium meals segment.In the last 10 years Megabite has been able to create an identity of its own and has been able to bridge the gap between hotel services and catering companies.Megabite employs more than 750 people including a team of senior chefs & a team of F&B Managers to cater to its clients’ needs. It operates a 9000sq.ft central kitchen in Doddanekkundi, Bangalore.

With this association with TISS SVE, Megabite Food Services will enhance its man power with the Work Integrated Training Programme (WITP) where students will learn the skill by engaging in on-the-job training. Under this association, three year degree course Food & Beverage Service called as B.Voc will be offered.

“Today, there is a scenario where youngsters who cannot afford to learn beyond S.S.C. or H.SC are quite vulnerable because of limited job opportunities. Hence the tie-up with organizations like World Vision India will help the students to get employment as well as a Degree. In each sector we tie up with appropriate organizations/companies for work integration. We hope to reach out to a large number of disadvantaged and marginalized youth across India through different vocational courses. These courses are designed for a variety of sectors leading to a B.Voc Degree” says Prof Neela Dabir, Dean, TISS School of Vocational Education.

Mr.PrabhakarNagaraj, Partner of Megabite Food Services says, “TISS initiate to bridge the gap between the “need and the requirement” has been outstanding. The essence of the whole program is to provide trained manpower to this sector that has been deprived of quality manpower trained in specific for the industry”.
