Huawei organizes ICT Competition to cultivate the next generation of Indian engineering talent

As part of its mission to boost the local ICT ecosystem and identify young talent, Huawei organized the 3rd edition of its ICT Competition in India. 1,100 students from nine engineering institutes across India participated in the competition. Top three students shortlisted will get a chance to represent India in the Global finals in China with an opportunity to learn from global experts.

The annual ICT competition sponsored by Huawei aims to attract and develop talent in India for the growing ICT industry. Students are exposed to ICT learning and receive global certification through Huawei’s ICT Academy program which is designed to create a pipeline of industry ready future telecom professionals for Huawei’s partners.

Under the aegis of its Huawei ICT Academy, Huawei organizes ICT competition across countries to invite colleges and universities to participate and encourage students for ICT technologies training. Post appearing for the India National Finals, the qualifying team from the top five ICT academies in India will further participate in the regional finals competing with other teams of South-East Asia (SEA) region. Winners from the SEA will then participate in the global finals where teams representing other countries/regions will participate. Since its inception, the Huawei ICT competition has covered 61 countries across the world, with participation of over 100,000 students from 1,600 universities and colleges.

In 2013, Huawei has rolled out the Huawei ICT Academy, or HAINA – a joint program between Huawei and universities from around the world. The Academy transfers knowledge about Huawei’s ICT technologies and products to university students worldwide and encourages them to participate in technical certifications. The program aims to develop innovative technical professionals required by the ICT industry and society and build a healthy ICT talent ecosystem. Huawei ICT Academy provides a variety of ICT courses for global universities on emerging technologies such as cloud, storage, big data, IoT, and AI.
