Union Minister of State for Law and Justice and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri P.P Choudhary gave away the One Globe Awards at the sixth annual edition of One Globe Forum being held in the capital. The awards recognize and honor individuals as well as domestic and international companies for their contributions in building a 21st century knowledge economy through their initiatives in digital economy, R&D, smart cities, entrepreneurship, mobile innovation and social empowerment. The Forum was inaugurated by Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State for Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, in the presence of Lord Raj Loomba, Founder and Chairman Trustee, The Loomba Foundation; Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President, U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC); Mr.Shalabh Kumar, Founder and President, Republican Hindu Coalition; Mr. Dalbir Singh, Senior Advisor, Forum of Federations Canada andMr. Harjiv Singh, Convenor, One Globe Forum.
ISRO won the Award for excellence in research and development. The Award for enabling a Smart State was won by Maharashtra, while Nagpur Municipal Corporation won the Award for Smart Cities. The Award for Enabling a Digital Economy was won by Tech Mahindra. Power Finance Corporation won the Award for Mobile Innovation. Shalabh Kumar, Chicago-based American-Indian industrialist and philanthropist was conferred the Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship. The Award for Social Empowerment was bagged by Uttar Pradesh Police Mahila Samman Prakoshth.
