Confederation of ATM Industry (CATMi) holds its First Annual Conference in Mumbai

  • Daylong conference covered series of insightful sessions focused on Modernizing ATMs: The Way Forward

The Confederation of ATM Industry (CATMi) today held its very first Annual Conference at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. Focused on discussions around India ATM Industry at large; the conference was hosted with representatives from ATM Manufacturing & Out-sourcing companies, White Label ATM Operators, Payment Services Companies, Cash Replenishment & Cash in Transit Agencies, ATM Security Services & Solutions Companies and Banks.

This annual conference was by inaugurated by Chief Guest – Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi, Executive Director, Reserve Bank followed by her special address to all the attendees. The conference was hosted and graced by industry leaders such as Amit Tyagi, VP & Head – Customer Relations – Payment Management Services, Mphasis [Secretary at CATMi Secretary at CATMi], Loney Antony, Managing Director, Hitachi Payments [Founding Member and Director at CATMi], Himanshu Pujara, Managing Director, Euronet India [Treasurer at CATMi],  Sanjeev Patel, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Communications Payment Solutions [President at CATMi] and Navroze Dastur, Managing Director – India & South Asia, NCR Corporation amongst other representatives from CATMi.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi, Executive Director, Reserve Bank said, “The ATM Industry has been instrumental in ensuring financial inclusion in India and will continue to do so. With an increasing surge in day-to-day cash transactions, the Indian ATM industry is surely poised to grow. High credibility events like CATMi Annual conference provide an excellent platform for exchange of knowledge, thoughts and ideas that can benefit all and drastically contribute towards the betterment of the industry”.

“There is a need for growing and improving the ATM infrastructure to drive financial inclusion aggressively and cash recycling ATMs will be the key to manage currency movement effectively” she added.

The day long event included series of interesting sessions on trends and developments in Indian ATM Industry in modern times.  Each session involved a panel discussion with a group of minimum 5 representatives from the industry. The discussions revolved around various aspects of the ATM businesses in terms of how ATMS have and will drive financial inclusion in India, the future of the ATM channel in India – which models likely to work, modernizing ATM networks in India – technological developments, how ATMs and digital / mobile payments will co-exist and future of White Label ATMs and challenges.
