The renowned Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies (KIAMS) founded by the eminent Kirloskar Group, has provided the best managerial education facilities for the management aspirants. Not only this, the KIAMS has also provided placements to more than 90 per cent of the students. Now it is the responsibility of students to achieve the new and higher goals, said Sajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv.
Sanjiv Bajaj was speaking on the occasion of the 17th Convocation Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) for the class of 2016 of KIAMS. Mr. Rahul Kirloskar, President, Governing Council, KIAMS presided over the convocation. Graduating students and parents attended the ceremony. All the staff and faculty members from both KIAMS locations (Harihar and Pune) were present on this momentous occasion. Mr. Narpati Luthra, Vice President, Governing Council, KIAMS, Dr. C N Narayana, Principal Director, KIAMS, Dr. D N Murthy, Director, KIAMS, Harihar campus were other eminent dignitaries present on the dais.
Bajaj further said that, innovation and entrepreneurial approach have been keys to achieve goals. The economic environment is conducive for entrepreneurial activity, and there are lots of agencies that can fund new ventures. Students better be entrepreneurs than to be typical job-seekers. Hence in the future you can change the scenario of the nation, and feel proud to be alma mater of the institute.
In his presidential speech Mr. Rahul Kirloskar threw light on the achievements of the KIAMS during the last academic year. Drawing attention to the volatile situation that PGDM institutes are in light of regulatory requirements of AICTE, he stressed the need for differentiating KIAMS through branding, market communications and imparting better quality education. He asked faculty members to enhance research capabilities, corporate relations to bring in more companies to campus.
Dr. C N Narayana, Principal Director, KIAMS appreciated the efforts of Governing Council, faculty and staff members to develop and implement integrated processes of academic delivery and assessment, placements and admissions. He further added that interactions with industry in various forums such as placement activities, seminars, guest lectures, summer projects, etc. provide tremendous insights into these processes. He also emphasized that India needs entrepreneurs with firm eye on sustainability.
During the convocation, Shruti Hariharan bagged the Gold Medal while Karen Saldhana bagged the Silver Medal. Stream-wise toppers include Shruti Hariharan (HR), Karen Saldanha (Marketing), Bimal Raj (Operations) and Vinay Kant Maurya (Finance).
