ACC Limited extends its support towards Kerala flood relief

Amidst the recent heavy floods which ravaged many parts of Kerala resulting in loss of life and resources, ACC Limited, one of India’s leading producers of cement and ready-mix concrete stepped in with resources, manpower and logistical support to provide on-ground flood relief and rehabilitation to assist people and local authorities in the flood impacted regions of the state.

Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director & CEO, ACC Limited and his team visited some of the worst affected regions in Kerala to understand the requirements of the locals to help enable long term rehabilitation solutions.

Neeraj Akhoury - MD and CEO - ACC Cement handing over relief materials in Kerala flood reliefOn his arrival in Kochi, the team visited the Rajashree S M M Senior Secondary School, East Kadungalloor where the Madukkarai Task Force team have been engaged in cleaning and restoration of the destruction from the floods. This was followed by a visit to Sree Sai Vidya Vihar, Kadungalloor where the ACC team had already completed the restoration work last week. Additionally, he also met the affected families in Neduvannur area in Parambayam, followed  by Alwaye and then Vennala floods.

Along with contributions by ACC Trust, ACC employees have donated one day’s salary to the humanitarian effort.  Apart from financial aid, the leadership has leveraged the company’s resources to support relief and rehabilitation, while also collaborating and mobilizing its channel partners to help in these efforts. ACC has also sent teams of carpenters, plumbers, electricians and maintenance personnel from its plant in Madukkarai, Tamil Nadu to Kerala for rehabilitation and rebuilding. Displaced people in Kerala have been finding it difficult to go back to their homes due to the heavy mud deposit inside their homes, disrupted electricity and water supply and damage to household items such as furniture, clothes and kitchen utensils. ACC teams of maintenance workers are helping them with the removal of mud deposits, restoration of electricity and plumbing facilities.
