INTELLEBATE Announces Team India for the World Schools Debating Championship 2016

- The winning team consisting of 5 best debaters at the Grand Finale today will represent India at the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC), 2016 in Germany.
After an intense battle of argument, wit and verbal jousting involving more than 1000 students across 20 cities, INTELLEBATE, powered by USA UnivQuest, finally announced the five winners of the National Debating Championship, who will carry the Indian flag at the 28th World Schools Debating Championship 2016, to be held in Germany.
The five remarkable students who beat stiff country-wide competition to emerge victorious at the National Round of Intellebate held here on May 14 are Mr. Dhananjay Ashok, Mr. Aatmik Gupta, Ms. Tejaswini Krishnaprasad, Mr. Hemanth Chakravarthy and Mr. Kartik Tadepalli.
The winners will form a formidable Indian squad that will vie for world debating supremacy at WSDC, one of the most prestigious global debating competitions for high school students. At WSDC, 2016, debaters from across 66 countries of the world will converge at Stuttgart, Germany for 10 days of debating and cogitating over important global issues.
This was the first time that the Indian Team for the WSDC was selected through a robust, open all India school competition – “INTELLEBATE – The National English Debating Championship, powered by USA UnivQuest.
A massive outreach campaign was launched to ensure that students from more than 20 cities get access to the opportunity of showcasing their talent and get a fair chance through Intellebate.
At the Grand Finale of the competition held at the India International Centre here, 36 national finalists debated each other in a high octane contest where the best debating talent from the student community was on full display.
In the run up to the national competition, USAÂ UnivQuest successfully reached out to more than a million students across the country, making INTELLEBATE the biggest inter-school debating competition.
USA UnivQuest is trying to popularize debating as a fun way of sharpening the Critical and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), recognized by NCERT and CBSE as a vital cog in the overall success of a student.
