Neuberg Diagnostics Private Limited, a StartUp in the PathLab chain segment, which ranks among the top 4 diagnostic service providers in the country organized a PEP (Patient Education Program) talk by Dr. Uma Ram, Director, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Seethapathy Clinic and Hospital. Dr. Uma Ram spoke about “New and Advanced ways of diagnosis and treatment for Infertility.”
Dr. Uma Ram engaged the attendees by giving them an insight on how infertility is not gender specific and both partners can be equally responsible for the inability to conceive a child. The program also highlighted how infertility is a major issue among couples within the country, causing both mental and emotional distress. Factors contributing to infertility like obesity, diabetes, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and fibroids were also discussed. She also pointed out how the numbers are increasing in terms of infertility due to rapid urbanization where people are exposed to work under pressure, pollution and delaying parenthood.
Dr. Uma Ram said, “I am delighted to be part of PEP Talk program where I could contribute in educating people with alternate methods to tackle infertility. Infertility is not addressed much and is often paired with a social stigma and there is a need to create awareness among the people. Infertility can also be tackled by making certain lifestyle changes like exercising, reducing alcohol consumption, quitting smoking and maintaining a healthy diet. Modern medical advancements are helping couples with infertility and my advice would be to consult a doctor if they have been trying to get pregnant for more than a year without success.
Dr. Saranya Narayan, Technical Director and Chief Microbiologist, Neuberg Ehrlich, emphasized the need for accurate and early diagnosis of causes of infertility to facilitate better management and enhance the success rate.
