Experts called for a long-term strategy in the infrastructure sector at a seminar, ‘Smart Infrastructure – Challenges and Opportunities’, organised at Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management. The focus of the seminar was to understand the challenges and opportunities in the infrastructure and construction sector in India.
Dr. Bhavesh Patel, Director General, AIER (Adani Institute of Education and Research), started off the event with the welcome speech, which was followed by the opening keynote by Mr. Pankaj Gupta, SVP, IL&FS (GIFT CITY). Mr. Gupta spoke on how the world is adopting smart infrastructure with sensing technologies and real-time data acquisition and analysis.
The one-day seminar consisted of a panel discussion on infrastructure innovation in a changing environment moderated by Prof Diptiranjan from AIIM. The panel featured renowned industry experts like Dr. Malay Mahadevia, Group HR Director & Whole-time Director, Adani Group; Mr. Pankaj Dharkar, National President, FSAI; Loveleen Garg, Environmental and Sustainability Expert, GIFT City and Mr. Sandeep Patel, CEO, Nepra Group.
Dr. Mahadevia said, “We need to welcome the innovations and emerging trends currently playing out in the industry, have a dialog about them among the leaders of the sector, and take action in this direction; without these steps, there can be no policy change. There is a dire need for long-term strategy in the infrastructure industry in order to create sustainable approaches for the future.â€
This was followed by insightful sessions from Mr. Vinay Pradhan, Country Head, Skillsoft on the role of leaders in building the future and Mr. Sameer Sinha, Savvy Infrastructure on knowledge based infrastructure industry.
Mr. Vinay Pradhan, Country Head for Skillsoft, added, “Organizations need to create future-ready leaders to survive and grow in the rapidly changing business environments and in a time of information overload. Leaders of the future need to be able to think ‘horizontally’, looking across lines of business and organizational boundaries to identify and develop more robust and innovative answers to problems in the industry.â€
The closing keynote was made by Mr.Ramnath Venkateswaran, Director, Marketing, Envac. He emphasized the importance of sustainable living, how to keep a step ahead for managing increasingly complex projects and heightened consumer expectation from the smart infrastructure of the future. He also showcased the latest developments in the field of waste management.
Vote of thanks was made by Dr. Pankaj Singh, Head – Services, AIIM and Group Head – L&D, Adani Group. He concluded the seminar by saying “The mindset is now shifting towards Smart Infrastructure and how it is going to impact people’s lives. It is high time that we align to these upcoming needs and unlock the potential of the future workforce.â€
