Famous for his charm and charisma Sami Khan has been winning many hearts in India with his portrayal of Haim in the twisted love story “Ishqaway” that airs every Monday to Saturday at 8:50 PM only on Zindagi. The actor who is known to be the “Johnny Depp of Pakistani television” for his constant experiments with looks, says that he is often inspired by many of his Bollywood and Hollywood counterparts like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kiefer Sutherland, Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman.
Sami claims to be a huge fan of Bollywood”s heart-throb Shah Rukh Khan, he says, “I must admit that Shah Rukh Khan’s energy is limitless, and that’s why I am a die-hard fan of SRK.” He says he also likes Aamir Khan for his diversity and loves how he keeps reinventing himself.
Talking about his inspiration from Hollywood, Sami says, “I take my inspiration wherever I find it. I am very impressed with Kiefer Sutherland’s command and control over his voice and I love the intensity and dedication of Christian Bale and the maturity of Hugh Jackman. I tried to follow Christian Bale by gaining weight for my movie “Love, Life and Lahore”.”
Sami is so inspired by some Hollywood actors that he would love to do something that would require fluctuating weight and playing with his appearance. In fact, his dedication towards his work can be seen in his current show “Ishqaway” where he has experimented with his look by growing beard to make the character more convincing.
“Ishqaway” is a twisted story of love, envy, friendship and family pressure. The show revolves around three main characters, Haim (Sami Khan), Safina (Rabab Hashim) and Amal (Zainab Ahmed). At the behest of his grandfather, Haim is betrothed into marriage with his paternal cousin, Amal, to strengthen family bonds. However, fate had something else in store for Haim who falls in love with Safina, Amal”s close friend, during his wedding festivities. The story will indeed put true love to test as Haim is torn between his love and his grandfather”s wishes. Now with Amal creating problems between Safina and Haim, will Amal succeed in her plans to get Safina out of Haim”s life?
