Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises announces the remarkable success of Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary students at the Class X CBSE Board Examinations. With parents primarily engaged as daily wage earners, these students, especially the girls, have withstood various pressures to drop out of school. Despite these adversities, the children who are often first generation learners, have proven that given the opportunity they can provide outcomes at par, if not better, than privileged students.
Young Bhupinder Singh, lost his mother at the age of five. The teachers of Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary School spotted him serving tea to labourers engaged at a construction site near the school.
From a drop-out helping his father care for his family of five to a position holder in Class X, today Bhupinder is on track to pursue his dream of becoming a commissioned officer in the Indian Army.
With an overall pass percentage of 99.11% at an external platform such as the CBSE Board Exams, the efforts of the students, teachers and the school stand validated. Parents are proud of the fact that their children have proved themselves among scores of children studying at private schools, Government schools and other privileged schools.
Sandeep Kaur, the eldest daughter of farm labourers in a village near Ludhiana, wakes up at5am every morning to help with the household chores. Both her parents set out for the day’s work, only to return late at night. Undeterred, she continued to work hard for Class X Board Exams with the help of her dedicated teachers; while also caring for her two younger brothers during the day. Despite these challenges Sandeep scored a perfect 10 CGPA, joining a premier group of girl students (66% of the top scorers) scoring CGPA 9 and above across all five Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools.
Congratulating the students and teachers, Mr Vijay Chadda, CEO, Bharti Foundation said, “The success of our Class X students is a significant chapter in the history of the Satya Bharti School Program. I congratulate the students as well as the school and the teachers for this stellar performance and I thank the community for consistently supporting the holistic development approach adopted in our schools. I also thank all our supporters who have helped us address the challenge of providing quality education in rural India.â€
