New platform to enable seamless shopping experience on the mobile app for SBI credit cardholders
SBI Card, one of the leading credit card issuers in the country, has introduced E-STORE, a shopping platform, on its mobile app. E-STORE is a platform within the mobile app, which enables cardholders to make purchases from partner merchants in a seamless manner, while availing exclusive offers and benefits. SBI Card has partnered with Goibibo, a leading travel aggregator, as its first online merchant on E-STORE. The E-STORE platform will soon be expanded to offer consumers access to a variety of merchants. The company plans to partner with various E-commerce merchants, across categories, to provide a holistic online shopping experience to consumers on E-STORE.
SBI Card has been making focused investments in technology – both, at the back-end and to the customer-facing digital touch points such as the mobile app – to constantly improve the overall customer experience. Earlier this year the company had launched an upgraded 3.0 version of its mobile app with superior functionalities. This is another step in enhancing the digital payments experience while bringing improved value through exclusive offers.
Cardholders can book flights, buses and hotels with ease on Goibibo through E-STORE, while availing exclusive discounts and offers. Apart from an attractive savings proposition, E-STORE also offers a high level of convenience in transacting. Cardholders do not have to enter their card details every time they make a purchase. Customers are only required to input their CVV to validate transactions, since card details are already integrated on the app. Also, EMI facility can be availed for travel bookings on E-STORE, a benefit available exclusively on booking through the mobile app.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Vijay Jasuja, CEO, SBI Card said, “The current environment in India is clearly indicative that digital payments are the way forward. The need of the day is to make digital transactions as convenient, safe and rewarding as possible for consumers. Introduction of the E-STORE platform on our mobile app is a step in this direction.”
He added “We have been witnessing a consistent increase in our customers’ interactions with us through the mobile app. Consumers are increasingly turning to mobile apps for everyday tasks. Now, in addition to existing services, cardholders can also transact directly on our mobile app while enjoying substantial savings through rewards and discounts. We believe this facility will further enhance the user experience. We are pleased to tie-up with Goibibo as this will allow our app users to make their travel and hotel bookings with ease and avail exclusive offers. While we have started with travel category, we are in talks with various online merchants and are looking to partner with sellers in different categories.”
SBI Card mobile app downloads, across the major app stores, stood at over 21 lakhs at end of October 2016. The SBI Card Mobile App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, iOS App Store and Windows Phone Store.
