Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated Project Serve Safe Food<\/strong>, a program run by Nestl\u00e9 India in collaboration with Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Maharashtra and NASVI. The program will train the street food vendors in the state of Maharashtra through a mobile van on important and critical subjects like health, hygiene, safe food handling, waste disposal and entrepreneurship with the support of the FDA Maharashtra. Along with food safety, the aim is to help enhance the livelihoods of street food vendors across the state.\u00a0 Project \u2018Serve Safe Food\u2019 has already benefited close to 5000 street food vendors across India since its launch in November 2016 and will benefit an additional 3600 street food vendors across the state of Maharashtra.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, <\/b>peaking on the occasion, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra <\/b>said, \u201cIf we can make street food vendors aware of the importance of food safety and hygiene it will lead to a brighter future for them. This initiative is a great way to not only ensure healthy food for consumers but also enable street food vendors to sustain better livelihoods.\u201d\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\"GovernmentDr Pallavi Darade, Commissioner, FDA Maharashtra<\/span><\/b> added \u201cIn today environment \u201cFood Safety\u201d & \u201cHygiene\u2019 plays a key role especially with street food vendors for which training attains paramount importance. This initiative between Maharashtra FDA and Nestl\u00e9 India becomes vital.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Swati Piramal, Director on the Board, Nestl\u00e9 India and Vice Chairperson, Piramal Enterprises Limited <\/span><\/b>said, <\/b><\/span>\u201c<\/b>Enhancing livelihoods\u00a0and ensuring safe food\u00a0is\u00a0at the core of Nestl\u00e9 India\u2019s societal initiatives.\u00a0This training\u00a0programme\u00a0will enable\u00a0street food vendors\u00a0to serve clean and hygienic food.\u00a0This\u00a0initiative will go a long way in\u00a0improving the livelihood of\u00a0street food vendors and ensuring that Food served to people is safe and healthy.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

According to Mr. Arbind Singh, National Coordinator, NASVI, <\/b>\u201cMaharashtra has a vast number of street food vendors and this training program will help increase their income and promote a healthier state. NASVI also updates the data of trained\u00a0street food vendors on the STREETSATHI APP which promotes street food vendors and helps them sustain their livelihoods in turn.\u201d<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
