Jabong, India\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s leading fashion e-tailer, has launched the July issue of its monthly style guide,\u00c2\u00a0The\u00c2\u00a0Juice.<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0Cover star Sayani Gupta, an Indie Bollywood actress, rocks a tropical printed dress from TOPSHOP available exclusively on Jabong.<\/p>\n

In a no-holds-barred interview, The Juice<\/em> got the darling of indie cinema Sayani Gupta to talk about her life, her roles and her quest to make and break Bollywood. Fashion photographer Nuno Oliveira captures the actress at her fierce best.<\/p>\n

On Bollywood<\/strong> She leans back, pensive, her cigarette punctuating her sentences \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a familiar scene that belongs more to a coffee house in Kolkata than a trailer in Mumbai. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153In the bigger film, honestly, nobody gives a shit about talent. Mumbai is a place of mediocrity.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Her arms windmill above her head. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The day before I read this article by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and he said, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcWe are actually habituated to seeing bad films. That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s why when one or two decent films come out, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re like \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcOMG, this is great cinema.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n

On shooting Fan with Shah Rukh Khan<\/strong> She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s also not your average Bollywood actress. Average Bollywood actresses don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t say \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Shah Rukh Khan\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153tatti\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the same breath. But here she is, enthusiastically holding forth on both. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153For Fan, Shah Rukh Khan had a 3 pm to 3 am<\/span> call time, which is also my favourite shift, because you can wake up by 12 and still have a nice lunch and have a couple of hours to yourself before you start work.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d And here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the kicker. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I generally say \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcSubah subah acting aur tatti dono nahi aati hai\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.<\/em><\/p>\n

On role research for Margarita with a Straw <\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It was ridiculous. Kalki had been on the wheelchair for six months to get into character. I had to do research so I reached out to the National Association for the Blind, to take classes with the children, participate in daily activities.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d She spent time with girls at the Hostel for Blind Working Women in Andheri, Mumbai. In Delhi she hung with another visually challenged woman Madhubala, who gave her a glimpse into her family and conjugal life as well.<\/em><\/p>\n
