{"id":2347,"date":"2016-06-09T02:50:36","date_gmt":"2016-06-09T02:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/YourChennai.com\/?p=2347"},"modified":"2016-06-09T02:50:36","modified_gmt":"2016-06-09T02:50:36","slug":"frontier-mediville-to-manufacture-mechanical-artificial-hearts-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yourchennai.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/09\/frontier-mediville-to-manufacture-mechanical-artificial-hearts-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Frontier Mediville to manufacture mechanical artificial hearts in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are more than one lakh patients who had artificial hearts last year in North America alone \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcHEART MATE 3\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest artificial heart cost Rs. 90.5 lakhs including implantation and it goes beyond 1.25 crores.\u00c2\u00a0 It is essential for the hospital to have a standby heart in case if the implanted one fails.\u00c2\u00a0 So the actual cost for the hospital \/ patient is around 2.5 crores.\u00c2\u00a0 As you can imagine how many of our 1.2 billion population can afford it?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The artificial hearts are made in US by \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcHEART MATE\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, manufactured by THORATEC CORPORATION, California, USA in 2002 and in Germany by \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcBERLIN HEART GmbH.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0Both are equally effective and costly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 23<sup>rd<\/sup> May 2016, Dr. KM Cherian had signed an MoU with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153SPUTNIK\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, Russian Federation who have been responsible for launching the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Space Shuttle on Oct 1957 which shocked the Americans and now is involved in producing mechanical artificial heart.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The MoU was signed with Mr. Sergey Sannikov in the presence of Padma Bhushan Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, Father of Brahmos Missiles.\u00c2\u00a0 According to the memorandum, it will be possible to produce the mechanical artificial heart within the cost of Rs. 30 lakhs which will be very cheap and affordable to many in the world compared to the others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SPUTNIK is very keen to manufacture this mechanical artificial heart in Mediville since Mediville has all the infra structure, especially a large facility for pre clinical studies which are going on as per CPCSEA approval projects which have approved projects by CPCSEA.\u00c2\u00a0 Thus with the technology available as well as the facilities, Russians believe that these artificial hearts could be made very cheap and will be available for supply to all over the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Memorandum is for a Joint Venture, and if it materializes, India will be the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Asian country and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> country in the world to produce its own artificial heart and of course the standing of Tamil Nadu as a MECCA in the field of Medical Care will be enhanced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are more than one lakh patients who had artificial hearts last year in North America alone \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcHEART MATE 3\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.
