Initiating a conversation on gender stereotypes, India\u2019s leading Hindi News Channel,\u00a0ABP News<\/strong>, concluded its event, \u2018Shakti Samman<\/strong>\u2019 in the light of International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

The platform was graced by the presence of\u00a0Honourable Minister in the Union Cabinet of India, Smriti Irani<\/strong>, who threw light on the theme of gender stereotypes. She said,\u00a0\u201cMen are not the problem, the mindsets are.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

She also felicitated mindset challengers like\u00a0Deepa Malik<\/strong>\u00a0(Chairman – Paralympic Committee of India),\u00a0Dr. Seema Rao<\/strong>(India’s first woman commando trainer, having trained Special Forces of India),\u00a0Aarohi Pandit<\/strong>\u00a0(First woman in the world to fly solo across the Atlantic in an LSA),\u00a0Chitra Rajagopal\u00a0<\/strong>(Distinguished Scientist & Director General (RM & Impl.), DRDO, Ministry of Defence),\u00a0Sunchika Pandey<\/strong>\u00a0(The woman behind Mumbai Police’s Twitter handle),\u00a0Anuradha Prabhudesai<\/strong>(Founder, Lakshaya Foundation),\u00a0Rajkumari Devi<\/strong>\u00a0(Also known as \u2018Kisan Chachi<\/strong>\u2019 – She empowered over 300 rural women to take up farming, and lead an independent life), and\u00a0Asha Dev<\/strong>i (Nirbhaya\u2019s mother).<\/p>\n

Through this initiative, ABP\u2019s main aim is to reflect on the experiences of these powerful women; work towards eliminating stereotypes; and provide a platform to empowered women – to empower women.<\/p>\n

Shakti Samman is an initiative to inspire the society to look at women for who they are and not how they look. With the idea of \u2018Mindset Challengers<\/strong>\u2019, ABP News has taken up a challenge to break the regressive mind-set about women in our society and shed light on the lives of strong personalities who are making strides for gender equality in their respective industries.<\/p>\n

The platform witnessed young men and women taking an oath to challenge mindsets and help grow the nation by eliminating biases around women, recognising them for their work & skills and not for their appearances.<\/p>\n
